Evergreen

A mountain-modern house above Evergreen. Six working days in January 2025. The kitchen wall stayed dry the next storm.

Own crews · 25-year workmanship warranty · we meet your adjuster on the roof

A stone and glass mountain house with steep dark gables, foothills behind it in evening light.
The house from the south meadow. Steep gables, the seam dark against the foothills.

Thirty inches overnight in January sat on a 2001 shingle roof and dammed over the kitchen. The seam, the guards, and the heat-trace went on in six days the next winter.

The roof was architectural shingle from 2001. In January 2024, thirty inches fell overnight and the melt dammed at the north eave. Water came in over the kitchen window. They patched it and lived with the stain. The next winter was already on the calendar, and a chinook week would do the same thing again.

We stripped the shingles in a dry week in January 2025. 24-gauge standing seam, 1.5 inch, charcoal, on 8:12 slopes. Snow guards at 18 inches on center up the north slope. Heat-trace in the kitchen valley and 240 feet of eave, under the metal, on a thermostat. The attic over the kitchen is vented. There was nothing to rebuild in April.

Days on site

  1. Day 1Shingle tear-off, including the January patch over the kitchen. The deck under that patch was soft for six feet and came out the same afternoon.
  2. Day 2Ice-and-water at both eaves and the kitchen valley. Heat-trace laid and tested before any metal went down. 240 feet, on its own breaker.
  3. Days 3–4Standing seam, charcoal, panels run full length so the north slope has no end lap for snow to catch.
  4. Day 5Snow guards, three rows, 18 inches on center, north slope only. The south sheds toward the meadow and did not need them.
  5. Day 6Ridge, penetrations, magnet sweep of the drive. David walked the eave. The kitchen wall was dry, and we said so in the photo set.

What the homeowner said

Thirty inches in one night. The snow guards held, and there was no ice dam over the kitchen. That was the whole point of the roof.
